Education Global Scholarship : 2026-27 Cohort
AESN is selecting one exceptional technology professional for a fully funded, mentored project placement. The work is real, the scope is substantial, and it is designed for someone who wants to leave a mark on an entire industry.
The Programme
This is not an internship or a bootcamp. It is a funded placement for a developer who wants to solve a complex, real-world operational problem — one that touches thousands of workers, businesses, and livelihoods across the UK.
You will be given access to a real operational environment, real seed data, and the full context of a working industry. The scope is substantial — expect something technically ambitious, involving systems design, data, and intelligent automation. The brief is revealed at interview stage.
Applications open now. Shortlisted candidates receive a detailed technical brief and assessment. Final selection is by interview. The programme begins Q1 2027. The full project lifecycle spans twelve months from start date.
We ask for focus, professionalism, and the ability to drive a long-arc project independently. In return: full financial support, senior mentorship, a credible portfolio anchor, and genuine exposure to an industry ripe for transformation.
You will work directly with AESN – an established UK staffing technology firm – alongside domain experts, with a clear deployment pathway. This is built work. It ships. The selected scholar is credited as primary contributor on a live product.
Who should apply
Selection criteria are deliberately broad — we are choosing the person, not just the CV. These qualities consistently characterise the candidates who go on to do outstanding work.
You model problems end-to-end before writing a line of code. You reason about how a change in one part of a system propagates through others and you can also document that thinking clearly.
Comfortable with databases, APIs, and server-side architecture. You have built things that handle real data and failure modes you understand both operational and presentation layer.
You follow the space closely and have experimented with integrating intelligent features into practical applications — not just prompting, but building systems that use models to make genuinely better decisions.
You treat scope as something you define, not just inherit. When something is unclear, you make it clear. When something is broken, you fix it — you do not wait to be told what the next step is.
You can explain complex technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders without losing accuracy. Your written work is precise, structured, and considerate of readers’ time.
Given an unfamiliar domain, you go deep quickly. You read, talk to practitioners, and synthesise before you build. You do not mistake familiarity for understanding.
What You Receive
For Institutions
We are building lasting relationships with universities and academic institutions who want to connect their students and graduates with meaningful applied technology work – beyond the classroom.
Whether you want to create a formal referral pathway, co-design a joint programme, or simply explore what a collaboration might look like – we want to hear from you.
Nominate exceptional students or recent graduates directly into our vetting process. We handle candidate assessment and communication.
